Details
of the apartment:
Checking In
If we are traveling abroad, just arrive
whenever it suits you. (I'll let you know when you reserve where we'll
be.) If we are at home, let us know the time of your arrival.
How do you get the key?
- No key. There is a code box on the door. Come down
from the sidewalk
onto the little patio and press the buttons on the code box on the
arched door.
I will email you the code once your deposit check is received.
What are the
rates?
Supplied upon request. UUs have a special rate.
Usually there is a
two-night minimum
Reserving the room
Send a check for half the amount to Jennifer Giddy, 119 West 82nd St,
Apt 1, New York, NY 10024. Please make the check out to CFCA. (This
stands for Cloud Forest Conservation Alliance, our not for profit
organisation - see www.cloudbridge.org)
Or you can pay with a credit card via Paypal - see button below.
It's always a good idea to send an email a few days before your arrival
date confirming details.
Who do you
contact in case of an emergency?
We are usually traveling, and my son, James, is
usually at
work. (James is the tall young man you might encounter in the hallways
- he's friendly, but very busy.) There is a
police station opposite and a Firehouse behind us. Call 911 if you are
afraid for life or limb, or fire, and leave the house. For ordinary
crises such as plumbing leaks, consult the information binder in the
living room for phone numbers.
What's the best
way to contact Jenny?
Email me at jenny@giddys.com. Phoning is usually
less convenient, but
my cell phone is 917 494-5408. If I'm abroad, I'm usually checking
email at least every other day.
How will you know
which room is yours?
The single room is upstairs.
The double room is the first bedroom on the right on the ground floor
as you come in.
The master bedroom is at the back of the house on the ground floor.
(James has a separate suite in the basement.)
Long-term stays
Sorry, this isn't possible. Between us, we have four
children and lots of comings and goings.
Can you rent the
whole house?
Yes, from time to time we are all away and then the
whole house is
available.
Parking
If you really have to drive to Manhattan, the only
suggestion I can
make is that you park where we park our car - at 60th and West End.
Parking on our street is $50 a night. I've heard of other cheaper
places further uptown.
Check the link to parking on the left of this page.
Closest Subway
81st Street subway station. B or C trains. From the subway station walk
a block to 82nd St and turn right. Walk a block to Columbus, cross, and
we are a few houses down on the right.
Breakfasts and
Restaurants
OK, B&B normally means Bed and Breakfast. However we travel
extensively, so probably won't be here during your stay, so think of
our B&B as Bed and Bath. You are welcome to help yourself to
whatever you can find in the fridge, and make your own eggs and toast
or granola, but there are an assortment of wonderful restaurans and
delis in the neighborhood. (see link on left). The take-out menus are
in a folder above the fridge.
